Article on Vibenite®-properties presented at NordTrib

Per Söderbäck from Uppsala University, Ångström Laboratory, presented the article ”Abrasion resistance of new wear resistant AM steels” at the well-attended NordTrib conference in Uppsala.

In the paper, the abrasive resistance of a number of Vibenite® alloys with different levels of hardness were compared to a number of traditionally made steels and cemented carbides.

The results showed that Vibenite® is fully in par with the best PM steels on the market, but also that the abrasion mechanisms are smooth and controllable, resulting in lower wear rates than the cemented carbides which showed severe chipping due to their low toughness.
